Temasek Holdings' $40 billion losses in 2008

You hear often of Temasek Holdings' $40 billion losses in 2008 but that's just one half of the story.

What they did not tell you is that the losses occurred during the Global Financial Crisis.

Even Warren Buffet's company shed 50% of its market value or $110 billion during the financial crisis.

Temasek also recovered from its losses very quickly. By March 2010, its assets had climbed 43 percent to S$186 billion ($135 billion), surpassing the previous peak of S$185 billion before the financial crisis.
